Salvador, the state capital is the fourth largest city in Brazil with a population of just over two million. The city is situated in the magnificent Bahia de Todos os Santos bay, the largest on the Brazilian coastline, dotted with 36 islands.

Brazil’s first capital, was once the glory of colonial Brazil and the second city in the Portuguese empire. Today it is a vibrant city with a beautiful historic centre (World Heritage Site), an “african soul” and a unique living culture of music, dance, tasty food and religious ceremonies.   It is also home to the largest and best preserved complex of colonial architecture in the Americas. The famous Pelourinho district.

 

PROGRAM

1 Day – Rio / Salvador
Arrival in Salvador, meet local guide and proceed on transfer to your hotel.
Arrival at hotel, check in.
Evening at leisure.

2 Day – Salvador
Breakfast at hotel.
Morning Historical Tour of Upper City.
After hotel pick up this tour takes you to the mouth of the immense bay and then via elegant tree-lined avenues and bustling city streets to the Pelourinho, a Unesco Heritage site and the largest complex of colonial architecture in the South America.  Lacerda Elevator, with great views of the bay stretching out to the lower city, and stroll through the narrow, bustling streets lined with buildings in pastel shades of an age gone by, soaking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant city.

We visit the church of San Francis with its exuberant gold-leafed Baroque interior and the Pelourinho square, the heart of the old town (entrance to San Francis church is included).

Evening is free for optional excursion of Bahian Night at Solar do Unhao.
A night focussing on the wealth of Bahian culture, a showcase of the multiple African traditions still so much alive in Bahia. (please consult for price with our staff).

Overnight at hotel.

3 Day - Salvador / Rio
Breakfast at hotel.
Morning free until check out time and departure transfer to airport (time to be determined by local guide according to flight schedule).

Economy Category - San Marino Hotel. Location: Situated at Farol da Barra beach,  20 minutes from international airport. 15 minutes from Historical site. 1. The mentioned rates are per person and valid until December'2007. 
2. This package is not valid during Christmas, New Years, Carnival and Holidays.
3. The activities described may be altered due to weather conditions, season or group make-up with the intent of maximizing your experience of the eco-system.
4. For payment of extras, will accept most credit cards.
5. All services are on private basis in air-conditioned vehicles.

Cancellations:
Accepted only until 20 days prior to beginning of tour - cancellation penalty of US$ 100.00 per person will apply to cover handling costs. 
Any cancellation from 19 days to arrival date is subject to penalty of full amount of package.  Non-refundable.
