POLYNESIAN CANOE (VA'A) PADDLING BY THE SUGAR LOAF |

A different adventure so close to the Sugar Loaf and with the breathtaking view of the city.
The canoe can take 6 or 12 paddlers (double hull) under the responsibility of an experienced steersperson (instructor and captain). The choice of boat will be made according to the number of participants. The instructor will introduce participants to the activity while still on land and the route will depend on participants' physical fitness.
Basic route: Praia Vermelha Beach - Leme Beach - Cotunduba Island , the Sugar Loaf -São João Fort Beach - Praia Vermelha Beach.

Enjoy the stunning beauty of Rio de Janeiro and learn or improve your skills in a sports that both allows you close contact with nature and gives you a feeling of belonging to and cooperating with a team.
Under the Sugar Loaf, the Praia Vermelha Beach offers perfect conditions for a group of 6 to 60 persons, involving up to 4 V6 canoes (6 paddlers) or 2 V12 canoes (12 paddlers, double hull), under the responsibility of an experienced steersperson (captain and instructor).
We will take care of all the organization: instructors, secretary, boats and their insurance, paddles, life jackets, demarcating buoys, certificates and medals.
This clinic includes three phases:
PHASE 1: Presentation of the sports, its history and importance to the Polynesian culture and the components of the canoe : Organizing the group into 5 person teams of under the responsibility of an experienced steersman (canoe "captain").
PHASE 2: Introduction: theoretical explanations on land, exploring the diverse phases of learning the sports, including terminology, basic paddling techniques, assembling the canoe, steering techniques, canoe turning techniques, safety rules and respect for the sea, team work (the role of each paddlers, hierarchy in the boat), in-water training (depending on the number of participants we may have to divide the group and alternate some groups on the beach doing stretch exercises and observing others practicing in the water).
PHASE 3: Mini-competition: The teams will compete in a 2 km. Triangular course facing the Praia Vermelha Beach.
Basic course for practice: Praia Vermelha Beach - Leme beach - Cotunduba Island, Praia Vermelha Beach.
Premiação: will be awarded for the winning teams.
